TRAVEL TO THE NORTH OF SUMATRA


Cultural North Of Sumatra (Batak)
 1. Tarian Tor tor
Dance that moves a rhythm with the music (magondangi) played with traditional instruments such as gondang, flute, and trumpet hobo. Tor-Tor dance was used in rituals associated with spirits, where spirits are summoned and "enter" into the stone sculptures (a symbol of the ancestors), then the statue is moving like dancing but her movements stiff. The movement includes the movement of the feet (tiptoe-tiptoe) and hand gestures



2. Custom Home Jabubolon atau Parsakitan

Jabubolon is home to a large family gathering. The stage and the upper room to stay together, bed higher than the kitchen.




3. Ulos Traditional Clothes
In North Tapanuli traditional woven called Ulos. Ulos cloth consists of some sort that price and different functions. For example: Ulos Godang, Sibolang, Mangiring, Sitoluntuho, Ragi Hidup, Sadum, and Ragi Hotang.

At the ceremony the men wearing headgear called sabe-sabe of Ulos Mangiring. Over his shoulder Ulos Ragi Hotang and wore a cloth gloves.
Ulos Sadum the women wore draped over his shoulders wrapped with Ulos Ragi Hotang and wearing gloves Suji. 
 

4. Traditional Weapon
Piso surut is a kind of dagger and a traditional weapon in Tanah Karo, North Sumatra. Piso gaja dompak, long form keris was an important symbol reign of King Singamangaraja. This weapon may only be primarily used by the king alone. Traditional weapon commonly used by the general public is a kind of spear and podang hujur similar long sword
 

TRADITIONAL FOODS BATAK NORTH SUMATRA
1. SAMBAL TUKTUK
Batak traditional food. Regular sauce, only difference is his andaliman (an original rempah2 field) and mixed with aso-aso fish (mackerel dried) or could also use fresh anchovy
 

2. Arsik ( Ikan Mas bumbu kuning)
Batak popular food. Carp that are not disposed of scales, cooked with spices typical of such andaliman and cikala acid (fruit kecombrang) in addition to the common spices such as lemongrass, and ginger.



3. Dengke Mas na Niura
Batak food, which used to only cooked for the king. Cook, not fried carp, boiled or something, because na Niura in Batak language means not cooked. So the raw carp cooked with spices and acids in order to complete the fish is cooked.


4. Kue Ombus ombus
Snacks typical Batak. This cake made of rice flour and sugar made in the middle and wrapped in banana leaves. This cake is delicious eaten while still warm.





 5. Mie Gomak (Spagheti Batak)
Noodles made with broth or dry, which means her noodle-making digomak-gomak (use hand held), with a mixture of spices andaliman, noodles taste good and delicious.
 


And there are still some traditional foods Batak, such as: : kacang Sihobuk, Dali ni Horbo, Saksang,  Ayam Napinadar and Bika Ambon
